PRP Therapy & Regenerative Medicine
Harness your body's own healing power to repair damaged joints and tissues.
Your Body's Natural Healing Potential
Regenerative medicine uses your body's own biological materials to stimulate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and restore function to damaged joints and soft tissues.
At Arizona Integrative Medical Center, Dr. Stallone offers advanced regenerative therapies including Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. These treatments represent the cutting edge of natural medicine, allowing us to activate and accelerate your body's innate healing mechanisms.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
PRP therapy uses concentrated platelets from your own blood to promote healing. Platelets contain growth factors and signaling proteins that are essential for tissue repair. By concentrating these elements and injecting them directly into damaged tissue, we can dramatically accelerate the healing process.
How PRP Works
- Blood Draw: A small amount of your blood is drawn (similar to a routine blood test)
- Processing: The blood is placed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets
- Preparation: The platelet-rich plasma is extracted and prepared for injection
- Injection: The PRP is precisely injected into the damaged tissue
- Healing: Growth factors activate your body's repair mechanisms
What's in PRP?
Platelets contain numerous growth factors and bioactive proteins that promote healing:
- Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)
- Transforming growth factor (TGF)
- Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)
- Epidermal growth factor (EGF)
- Fibroblast growth factor (FGF)
- Insulin-like growth factor (IGF)
- Connective tissue growth factor
- Anti-inflammatory cytokines
Benefits of PRP Therapy
- Uses your own biological material
- No risk of allergic reaction
- No synthetic drugs or chemicals
- Stimulates true tissue repair
- Minimal downtime
- Long-lasting results
- Can avoid or delay surgery
- Safe to repeat as needed
Conditions Treated with PRP
PRP therapy is effective for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions:

- Tennis/golfer's elbow
- Achilles tendinitis
- Patellar tendinitis
- Plantar fasciitis
Ligament Injuries
- ACL sprains
- MCL injuries
- Ankle sprains
- Ligament laxity
- SI joint dysfunction
Other Conditions
- Chronic back pain
- Neck pain
- Sports injuries
- Post-surgical healing
- Muscle strains
What to Expect
Before Treatment
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin) for at least one week before treatment, as they can interfere with the healing response. Stay well-hydrated and eat normally before your appointment.
During Treatment
The entire procedure typically takes about 45-60 minutes. The blood draw and processing take approximately 30 minutes, followed by the injection procedure. Most patients tolerate the treatment well with minimal discomfort.
After Treatment
You may experience some soreness and swelling at the injection site for several days - this is normal and indicates the healing response is active. Continue to avoid anti-inflammatory medications for 2-4 weeks. Light activity is encouraged, but avoid strenuous exercise for 1-2 weeks.
Results Timeline
Most patients begin to notice improvement within 2-6 weeks, with continued improvement over 3-6 months as tissue repair progresses. Many patients experience significant lasting improvement after 1-2 treatments, though some conditions may require additional sessions.
Combining Regenerative Therapies
PRP therapy is often combined with prolotherapy or hyaluronic acid injections for enhanced results. Dr. Stallone will develop a customized treatment plan based on your specific condition and goals.
